In the new system, the only way to make progress is to loot the new books and read them. This means as long as whatever you do gives you XP you are making progress. In the current version because all you need to do to improve your skills and unlock stuff is to level up, any source of XP gets you to that goal. I would say this change will most definitely have negative effects on the other "playstyles". I'm sure we'll have some fun along the way, but on the whole I'm losing interest in this one.Ĭould this push for making looting and questing the only efficient way to learn have negative impact for people that enjoy the long slow grind of base building in game. We'll hop in, hit endgame, get bored because there's no point to playing anymore and leave. They just keep adding in tedium to the early/mid game so they don't have to make an end game.Ī21 will be the same as A20 and A19 for my group. It's been how many years and they're still making massive, sweeping changes to the base game systems instead of doing work on anything meaningful like the plot they talked about or a real endgame. You play their way, or you can go get fucked. The devs took an open-ended open world game and made it linear as hell. He goes out and loots or he can't do what he wants. He doesn't like to adventure as much, and normally relies on us for a lot of his books and XP through shared XP. He loves building out the base and defenses, making organizational boxes, crafting things. I play with a guy that loves to be the homebody. So what's the word are you guys excited or will we all be playing darkness falls when the next update drops If anything else it will give the player a reason to work their way up to tier 5 jobs with all the traders in the very least. My outlook may seem negative but don't let that get you down word from the developers is that play testing has gone really well and the system seems fun and rewarding. The grind to level 300 isn't an easy one but I'm wondering how it will compare to finding 1920 different magazines? On top of the 16 books each with 7 volumes that we already have (112 for reference) I know these current perk books we have are based on RNG but it seems like it's takes an excessive amount of time to find all of them. There's also the long-term drive of being a completionist which I definitely suffer from. Now it could be that you will only find paper if you spec into shotguns but that seems almost worst somehow. In comparison I've found about a full storage containers of paper that's 72 slots of stacked paper. However so is paper and that stuff is everywhere like everywhere! I'm pretty sure in my current game we are at day 30 as a rough estimate I'd say the current schematics we've and perk magazines we've found if I unstacked them and we didn't use them would be enough to fill maybe 6-7 storage containers so as a generous guess let's say 500. The thing is having boxes and boxes of schematics was a nice push for someone that just joined a long term server and I'm sure you could just level up to 99 and then collect the new magazines for days but what if you forget or have ocd issues I do realize hindsight is a thing.įrom my understanding they will be offered as quest rewards, found in crates that are associated with them and in the usual schematic locations like file cabinets, mailboxes etc. I've got a lot of mixed feelings I really appreciate the fact that it caters to you and after it's maxed out you won't find them anymore, but I also don't. So I've been reading up on the specifics of what the developers have leaked on the forums and would like to see some more opinions unfiltered. Only one post per Let's Play series (This rule includes livestreams, such as on Twitch and YouTube Gaming).
